Why did you join the CACBT Student Committee?

I joined the CACBT Student Committee to help foster student engagement in cognitive behavioural therapy and increase interest in careers as CBT clinicians, researchers, and mental health professionals. I am passionate about improving access to high-quality CBT education, training, and research opportunities, and I hope to contribute to the dissemination of evidence-based knowledge that supports the development of the next generation of mental health professionals.

Why you are passionate about CBT knowledge advocacy and dissemination?

I am passionate about the dissemination of CBT knowledge because both my research and clinical interests are grounded in evaluating and advancing evidence-based mental health care. Given the strong empirical support for CBT across a wide range of psychological difficulties, I believe it is essential to promote access to CBT research, training, and education so that more individuals can benefit from effective, evidence-based treatment.

I joined the CACBT student committee to advance student representation and advocacy in the world of CBT. As a current student, I also see it as a great way to expand my professional network and community to work alongside others working towards improving the field in the future.

Why are you passionate about CBT knowledge advocacy and dissemination?

As a student working towards my PhD, I want to continue the work that my mentors and colleagues have been doing in advancing CBT throughout their careers. I also find it important to build that professional community to tackle ongoing and future challenges to the world and profession together.

After attending my first Canadian Association of Cognitive and Behavioural Therapies conference at UBC earlier this month, I was inspired by the passion and collegiality of the CBT community and knew I wanted to become more involved.

Working in a clinic grounded in evidence-based care, where CBT forms the foundation of clinical practice, has strengthened my commitment to advancing evidence-based treatments and promoting the dissemination of CBT knowledge within both clinical and community settings.

Why did you join the CACBT Student Committee?

Over the past few years, I have been fortunate to learn from researchers, clinicians, and fellow students who have generously shared their knowledge and enthusiasm for psychology. Joining the CACBT Student Committee felt like an opportunity to give back to that community while continuing to learn from people who are passionate about CBT and evidence based mental health care.

Why you are passionate about CBT knowledge advocacy and dissemination?

What draws me to CBT is not only the strength of its scientific foundation, but also its ability to bridge the gap between research and real life. Some of the most valuable psychological tools are often confined to journal articles, classrooms, or therapy offices, yet they have the potential to benefit far more people. I am passionate about helping translate evidence based knowledge into accessible conversations and resources that empower individuals to better understand themselves and navigate life’s challenges.
