Membership Categories & Rates

Full Member

$155 + tax

Full Members are licensed or registered with a regulated health profession.

Full Members enjoy numerous benefits, including voting rights (e.g. at the Annual General Meeting) and eligibility to serve on the Board of Directors or Committees.

Full Members include all active members (non-student) who have paid the current yearly membership fee. Full Members also include Certified Members, Fellows, and Founding Members.

Student Member

$70 + tax

Student Membership is open to individuals enrolled in a post-secondary program of study related to mental health, including:

  • Counselling
  • Medicine
  • Nursing
  • Psychiatry
  • Psychology
  • Social Work
  • Occupational Therapy

Student Membership is also open to recent graduates actively pursuing graduate-level training in a related discipline, such as during a gap year.

For Student Members who identify as Indigenous, membership is free of charge. This is part of CACBT's commitment to help improve the availability of and access to cognitive-behavioural interventions that have been culturally adapted for Indigenous peoples.

Retired Affiliate

Free

For members who are retiring but want to remain connected to CACBT, we offer the free Retired Affiliate option.

To be eligible, you must:

  • No longer be practicing
  • Have been a CACBT member for at least 5 of the last 10 years
  • Meet at least one of the following: currently a Certified Member, Past Board Member, or Fellow

Retired Affiliates continue to have access to the Member Portal. While there is no fee, membership must still be renewed annually to keep CACBT records current.

The Association requires members to pay annual fees to maintain active membership status. This status is required to retain certification, Fellow designation, and/or Founding Membership. Fees for new memberships and renewals are the same. All membership fees are non-refundable.

Membership Year

January 1 – December 31

The CACBT membership year runs from January 1 to December 31 of each year, regardless of whether those dates fall on weekends or holidays.

Renewals must be completed by December 31 at 11:59 pm ET to avoid late or administrative fees.

New memberships submitted between January 1 and October 31 apply to the current membership year, while memberships submitted between November 1 and December 31 extend to the following membership year.

Late / Administration Fees for Renewing Members

If renewal is not completed by December 31, the following fees apply beginning January 1:

Late or administrative fees are charged in addition to the applicable membership fee.

New Membership & Renewal Guidelines

New Membership Guidelines

  • New members are welcome to join at any time.
  • Memberships submitted between January 1 and October 31 apply to the current membership year.
  • Memberships submitted between November 1 and December 31 extend to the following membership year.
  • Members may choose auto-renewal or log in to the Member Portal each year to renew manually.
  • A renewal reminder appears in the Member Portal beginning in November.

Renewal Guidelines

All Members

Membership renewal is required by December 31 at 11:59 pm ET to avoid late or administrative fees and prevent the loss of CACBT status, such as Certification, Fellow, or Founding status.

Certified Members

To maintain certification status, renew by December 31 at 11:59 pm ET. Certified Members have until March 1 at 11:59 pm ET to complete payment during the grace period. After this date, certification will be lost and members must reapply through the certification process.

Founding Members

Members who registered by December 31, 2010 are recognized as Founding Members of CACBT-ACTCC. Renewals must be completed by December 31 at 11:59 pm ET each year to maintain Founding Member status.

Retired Members

Retired Affiliates must continue to meet the eligibility requirements and renew annually. There is no cost to renew.

Membership Drive

The membership drive is an annual initiative that aims to encourage new memberships and renewals within the Association. During this period, members have the opportunity to maintain access to the Association’s benefits and retain their designated status, such as Certified, Fellow, or Founding.

Members may choose auto-renewal or log in to the Member Portal each year to renew manually. A reminder message will appear in the Member Portal beginning in November.

Cancellations & Refund Policy

Membership dues paid to CACBT are non-refundable.
