Fellow Nomination and Recognition
CACBT is pleased to offer Full Members the option to become nominated as a Fellow.
What is a CACBT Fellow?
Fellowship status is the highest honour bestowed by CACBT upon Full Members in good standing from any professional background. It recognizes those who have made a truly outstanding contribution to the advancement of CBT-based theory, assessment, and/or treatment, as well as to advocacy for and training/consultation/supervision in CBT within the Canadian context. Typically, one to two Fellows are recognized each year.
Eligibility
Fellowship nominators and nominees must be CACBT members in good standing at the time of the nomination (note that current members of the CACBT-ACTCC Board are ineligible). Nominees must have made outstanding contributions in both of the following evaluation categories:
Advancement and implementation of CBT-Based Theory, Assessment, and/or Treatment
Advocacy for and Training/Consultation/Supervision in CBT
“Outstanding” refers to an exceptional level of achievement or contribution surpassing that of peers with similar backgrounds and/or demonstrates an unusually strong impact on CBT through their work.
Examples of Outstanding Contributions in both Evaluation Categories
A case for outstanding performance must be made in both evaluation categories 1 and 2. However, not every sub-criterion listed under each category needs to be met. For example, those who primarily provide clinical service and training may not have made outstanding contributions to research but are eligible if their contributions in other areas are outstanding, and vice versa. A Fellow can be awarded for those who have made a highly impactful contribution in one main area or who have demonstrated cumulative excellence across multiple areas.
For details, refer to the “Examples of Outstanding Contributions” section.
