CACBT is offering three bursaries for the 2027 membership year, covering the full $70 student membership fee.

Making CACBT Membership More Accessible

If you are studying or preparing for graduate training in a mental health field and membership fees are a financial barrier, we encourage you to apply.

CACBT membership offers opportunities to connect with CBT students and professionals, access discounts and resources, learn about training and career opportunities, and get involved in the CBT community.

Applying is easy—no lengthy application or essay is required. Eligible applicants will be entered into a random draw.

About the Bursary

The CACBT Student Membership Bursary increases access to association resources and opportunities by covering the $70 annual fee for students in mental health fields who face financial barriers along their academic pathway.

For the 2027 membership year, three bursaries are available:

Two Bursaries Reserved for new Student Members who have never previously registered.
One Bursary Available for a renewing or returning Student Member.

Who Can Apply

To be eligible, applicants must:

Be eligible for 2027 CACBT Student Membership:

  • Currently enrolled in a post-secondary program of study related to mental health (e.g., counselling, medicine, nursing, psychiatry, psychology, social work, occupational therapy); OR
  • A recent graduate actively pursuing graduate-level training in a related discipline (e.g., individuals in a gap year preparing applications for graduate programs).

Self-declare that the CACBT student membership fee presents a financial barrier to joining membership.

Be a first-time recipient of the Bursary. Previous recipients are ineligible; past unsuccessful applicants are encouraged to reapply.

CACBT welcomes applicants from across Canada and encourages applications from individuals belonging to diverse backgrounds and communities that have been historically underrepresented in mental health professions.
Required Documents: Proof of enrolment, or a short letter outlining intentions to pursue graduate training for individuals in a gap year.

Selection

Recipients will be randomly selected from the eligible applicants and notified by email by October 30, 2026, with instructions on how to join or renew their membership during the renewal period.
