Dr. Heather Hadjistavropoulos is a Professor of Psychology and Director of Clinical Training at the University of Regina. She founded the Psychology Training Clinic at the U of R, and offers cognitive behavioural training for the assessment and treatment of anxiety and mood disorders to graduate students.
Her research is focused on: a) assessing and treating psychological problems that may impact health and b) understanding and improving quality of health care in an attempt to reduce the burden of illness. She received a Canada Innovation Foundation grant to develop a state of the art Clinical Health Psychology research area. She has published and presented her research widely and received funding through the Canadian Institute of Health Research, Canadian Health Services Research Foundation and the Saskatchewan Health Research Foundation.
Most recently she was funded to develop and evaluate an Online Therapy Unit for Service Education and Research (onlinetherapyuser.ca). This unit is: 1) collaborating with international experts to adapt existing evidence-based I-CBT programs for depression and anxiety for use in Saskatchewan; 2) training providers and students from diverse professional backgrounds on how to use I-CBT and gain practical experience in treating clients with I-CBT; and, 3) developing working groups within five regions within Saskatchewan to create plans for I-CBT implementation within existing mental health care programs. It is expected that Online Therapy USER will have a substantive impact on how I-CBT is ultimately financed, organized, managed, and delivered in Southern Saskatchewan.
